Short bio: Experimental Rock with a sense of humour. Flashes of surf, funk, hard rock and world percussion styles. Keeping it fun and just getting started.

The genres experimental rock or art rock can sometimes describe music that is highly creative and no fun. Sprattacus aims to change that. Well, the no fun part that is.

Having a spirit for keeping the audience entertained has been a constant thread throughout the musical journey of Ryan Spratt. Though lighthearted in nature, the group aims to be artistically challenging and interesting enough to keep themselves and the audience engaged at all times.

With the Sprattacus project, flashes of surf, funk, hard rock and various world music percussion styles combine for a uniquely amusing stew of sounds. Instrumentally, funky bass from Spratt mixes with heavy grooving drums and percussion from Josh Park and Aaron “LoveSounD” Seunarine. Mike Murray provides a wild array of guitar sounds while co-writer Mike Simpson (a.k.a. Jack Moves) counters with complimentary keyboards and strong lead vocals. Spratt provides lead vocals as well, frequently harmonizing with Simpson.

There are comedic moments throughout each song and performance. The group won a Canadian Comedy Award for Best Variety Act in 2019 from their work with comedian Garrett Jamieson. The debut album from Sprattacus, Good For Business, is an espresso of a recording which expands into an Americano when performed live. For Sprattacus, the experimental nature of the group allows for improvising and exploring different styles and genres. Keeping it fun and just getting started.
